Domain Extension for Enhanced Target Collision-Resistant Hash Functions
نویسنده
چکیده
We answer the question of Reyhanitabar et al. from FSE’09 of constructing a domain extension scheme for enhanced target collisionresistant (eTCR) hash functions with sublinear key expansion. The eTCR property, introduced by Halevi and Krawczyk [1], is a natural fit for hashand-sign signature schemes, offering an attractive alternative to collisionresistant hash functions. We prove a new composition theorem for eTCR, and demonstrate that eTCR compression functions exist if and only if one-way functions do.

Enhanced Target Collision Resistant Hash Functions Revisited
Enhanced Target Collision Resistance (eTCR) property for a hash function was put forth by Halevi and Krawczyk in Crypto 2006, in conjunction with the randomized hashing mode that is used to realize such a hash function family. eTCR is a strengthened variant of the well-known TCR (or UOWHF) property for a hash function family (i.e. a dedicated-key hash function). The contributions of this paper ...
متن کاملAn Investigation of the Enhanced Target Collision Resistance Property for Hash Functions
We revisit the enhanced target collision resistance (eTCR) property as a newly emerged notion of security for dedicated-key hash functions, which has been put forth by Halevi and Krawczyk at CRYPTO’06, in conjunction with the Randomized Hashing mode to achieve this property. Our contribution is twofold. Firstly, we provide a full picture of the relationships between eTCR and each of the seven s...
متن کاملA Generalization of PGV-Hash Functions and Security Analysis in Black-Box Model
In [1] it was proved that 20 out of 64 PGV-hash functions [2] based on block cipher are collision resistant and one-way-secure in blackbox model of the underlying block cipher. Here, we generalize the definition of PGV-hash function into a hash family and prove that besides the previous 20 hash functions we have 22 more collision resistant and one-way secure hash families. As all these 42 famil...
متن کاملMulti-Property-Preserving Hash Domain Extension and the EMD Transform
We point out that the seemingly strong pseudorandom oracle preserving (PRO-Pr) property of hash function domain-extension transforms defined and implemented by Coron et. al. [12] can actually weaken our guarantees on the hash function, in particular producing a hash function that fails to be even collision-resistant (CR) even though the compression function to which the transform is applied is ...
متن کاملCompression Functions Suitable for the Multi-Property-Preserving Transform
Since Bellare and Ristenpart showed a multi-property preserving domain extension transform, the problem of the construction for multi-property hash functions has been reduced to that of the construction for multi-property compression functions. However, the Davies-Meyer compression function that is widely used for standard hash functions is not a multi-property compression function. That is, in...
